West Indies Beat India by 24 Runs: T20I Series Level 2-2, Decider in Bengaluru Tomorrow

Hello and Assalam-o-Alaikum!

I hope you are doing well. Cricket lovers, what a week this is! While Pakistan gets ready for its own tri-series, our neighbours India just got a big shock at home — the West Indies beat them and now everything will be decided in one final match tomorrow. Let me tell you the full story in simple words.

What Happened? The Short Version

In the 4th T20I match played in Hyderabad on October 14, the West Indies beat India by 24 runs. This win has made the five-match series 2-2 level, so now the 5th and final match — the decider — will be played tomorrow, October 17, in Bengaluru at 7:00 PM India time (6:30 PM Pakistan time). Winner takes the whole series!

Two heroes made this win possible: captain Shai Hope, who scored a brilliant century, and Keemo Paul, who took five wickets. I read reports from Hindustan Times, ABP News, and Cricket Daily to bring you the full picture. For more cricket stories, visit our Sports section and Latest updates.

Shai Hope’s Magical Century

First, let me explain what a “century” means for new cricket fans: it means one player scores 100 or more runs in a single innings. In T20 cricket, where each team only gets 20 overs (120 balls), scoring 100 runs is very, very hard.

Shai Hope did something amazing: he scored 102 runs in just 50 balls, and he was not out (meaning nobody got him out). He hit 4 fours and 9 sixes — nine times he sent the ball flying over the boundary! This was his fourth century of this India tour and his second in this T20I series. He even broke Chris Gayle’s record for the most T20I centuries by a West Indies player. What a tour he is having!

Thanks to Hope’s batting, West Indies made a huge total of 247 runs for 3 wickets — one of the biggest T20I totals you will ever see.

Keemo Paul’s Five-Wicket Magic

Now the bowling hero. Keemo Paul took 5 wickets for 41 runs — in cricket language, we write this as “5/41”. Taking five wickets in one T20 match is extremely rare and special.

Paul made history with this: he became the first West Indies bowler ever to take two five-wicket hauls in T20I cricket. He also became only the second bowler in history to take a five-wicket haul against India in T20Is. When India was chasing fast, Paul kept taking wickets at the right moments and broke their heart.

How India’s Chase Fell Apart

India needed 248 runs to win — a mountain to climb. But they started like champions! Sanju Samson smashed 56 runs in just 22 balls, hitting the ball all over the ground. India’s 50 came up in only 3 overs. The crowd was dreaming of a miracle.

But then Keemo Paul struck — he got Samson out, and India’s speed slowed down. Tilak Varma (43 runs) and Nitish Kumar Reddy (41 runs) tried to fight back with a 70-run partnership, but the asking rate (runs needed per over) kept climbing too high. In the end, India were all out for 223 runs — 24 runs short.

Tomorrow’s Decider: What to Expect

So now it all comes down to one match in Bengaluru tomorrow. Here is what I think will decide it:

India’s batting firepower: India bats very deep — even their number 8 and 9 can hit sixes. If their top order fires like Samson did, 250 is chaseable for them.

West Indies’ confidence: Nothing is more dangerous than a team that believes. Hope is in the form of his life, and Paul’s bowling gives them teeth. They have already won twice in India on this tour.

The Bengaluru factor: The M. Chinnaswamy Stadium is famous for high scores — small boundaries, fast outfield. Expect another run-fest!

Why Should Pakistan Fans Care?

You might ask: India vs West Indies — why should we care? Two reasons. First, we Pakistanis simply love good cricket, no matter who plays. A 2-2 series with a decider is the best drama in sports! Second, watching how teams handle pressure in deciders teaches us about the game — and with our own tri-series starting October 18, these are the kinds of pressure games our boys will face too.

My Honest Take

The good side: This is what T20 cricket is all about — centuries, five-wicket hauls, and a series going to the last match. Shai Hope is having one of the greatest tours by any visiting batter in India.

The careful side: For India, losing at home hurts. Their bowling leaked 247 runs, and questions will be asked if they lose the decider tomorrow. For West Indies, the danger is relaxing too early — India at home in a decider is a wounded tiger.

My prediction? I never jinx! But I will be watching at 6:30 PM Pakistan time tomorrow, and I think you should too. Here at Pak Unfiltered, I will keep bringing you cricket stories in the simplest words.

I’m Maryam, a university student who often finds myself noticing the things happening around me and wondering, “Why don’t we talk about this more?” That curiosity is what brought me to Pak Unfiltered, where I write about the issues I see in Pakistan, from everyday struggles and social problems to youth, culture, and the things people usually avoid talking about. I’m not here to pretend I have all the answers—I’m here to ask questions, share what I see, and say it as honestly as I can, without the filter.
