Masked Men Smash Windows of Nawaz Sharif’s Cars in London — Third Such Attack, Police Have CCTV

Hello, my friends. I hope you are all fine and happy. I hope your families are well too. Today I bring you a story from London that many people in Pakistan are talking about.

Two cars belonging to former prime minister Nawaz Sharif were damaged in London. Masked men smashed their windows and took away the glass. The police now have the CCTV video. Let me tell you the full story in simple words.

What happened

The incident took place outside the Sharif family’s Avenfield Apartments in central London. The attackers targeted two vehicles parked outside the building. They smashed the windows and removed the glass panels. Some reports also say the attackers damaged the side mirrors of a BMW and a Mercedes.

A spokesperson for the Sharif family confirmed the news. He said the attackers did the damage two days before the family reported it. The family also said something important: this is the third such incident involving Nawaz Sharif’s vehicles.

The good news is that the damaged cars have been repaired. In fact, people saw Nawaz Sharif travelling in one of the cars on Thursday.

What the CCTV shows

London’s Metropolitan Police have taken the CCTV footage into their possession. In fact, the video reportedly shows two masked men near the cars. The police will likely use this footage to find out who did it.

So far, no arrests have been confirmed. The police have not said who the suspects are. No one knows the motive behind the attack yet.

Why this is the third attack

The Sharif family says this is the third time their vehicles have been attacked in London. However, they have not shared full details of the two earlier incidents. No one has independently confirmed those details either.

But the Sharif family has faced security problems in London before. Let me remind you of a few old incidents.

In July 2018, protesters tried to force their way into the family’s Avenfield residence. Then, someone called the police after the protesters tried to break the entrance. Rival political supporters clashed, and the police made some arrests.

In May 2021, four unknown men tried to enter the London office of Nawaz Sharif’s son, Hassan Nawaz. Someone reported the matter to the police. In addition, PML-N leaders said the men had planned to attack Sharif.

In April 2022, there was another confrontation outside Sharif’s London office. Fortunately, his security guards stopped some protesters. The confrontation hurt a security guard, and the police received a complaint of assault.

So, this latest attack fits into a long pattern of trouble around the Sharif family in London.

Nawaz Sharif is in London for medical treatment

Currently, Nawaz Sharif is staying at the Avenfield Apartments in London. He is there for medical appointments.

When he arrived at the Avenfield Apartments and spoke to the media, he also talked about the sad school roof collapse in Peshawar. He expressed sorrow over the deaths of the children. He said Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz was already working to fix the poor condition of private schools. When asked about his health, he said he was feeling well.

What happens next

The police investigation is the next step. The CCTV footage is the biggest clue. If the police can identify the two masked men, we will know who did this and why.

Was this a political attack? Was it a personal dispute? Or was it just random vandalism? Right now, nobody knows. The police have not confirmed any motive. We must wait for the facts instead of guessing.

Indeed, Nawaz Sharif is the president of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N). He has many supporters and also many critics.

The London connection

This is not the first time a Sharif family story has come from London. Just recently, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also visited London, where he met big banks and talked about a 3 billion dollar Eurobond. You can read that story here.

London has become an important city for Pakistani politics. Many Pakistani leaders travel there. And sadly, many political fights also reach there.

What we know and what we do not know

So, let me be clear about the facts. What we know: two cars were damaged, the family confirmed it, the police have CCTV of two masked men.

On the other hand, what we do not know: who the attackers are, why they did it, and what the two earlier incidents were.

At Pak Unfiltered, we always share both sides and wait for the truth. We will update you when the police share more information.
